EOD MSWIN does not take tick data. The real need in system testing for the daytrader is 1) good RT data vendor, I use Qcharts and DTN. 2) a charting program that performs system test, I have Ensign for DTN, it only performs very simple tests, I have MSWIN RT but I have no plans to use Signal and it sits there.

Tradestation is powerful but many leave it on shelf if they aren't into programming. RT window on wallstreet is an unknown quanity but their EOD did tests on muti-stocks at once. There are others that work on End of day data. But we have few choices for RT.

Why system test? It allows you to compare historical results on many systems to see which one you trust and what to expect from it. Will they perform the same in the future? Yes and maybe. Yes - they will perform as before, the logic doesn't change, but you will see by testing where they perform the best and where they failed even though profits result. Maybe - the market's volatility or lack of it can cause a trending system to whipsaw you in a ranging market or stock. You need to know what system excels for the cycle of the market or stock.

Look hard, you will not find any RT system testing published. It is an area that has not been addressed.
