From the AltaVista FreeAccess FAQ: Can I access your system without seeing the ad bar and navigation system menu? No. The ad bar and navigation system supports your connectivity and allows you to surf the web for free. As soon as you shut down the FreeAccess software by closing the ad bar, your access to the Internet will be disconnected. Can I reduce the size of the application? No, the banner size cannot be adjusted. However, your monitor settings may be readjusted in some cases so that the banner takes up less screen space. To readjust the monitor settings, right click on the desktop. Highlight "Properties." Highlight "Settings." Adjust desktop area switch to 800 x 600. Click "Apply." Click "OK." (and now my personal favorite...) How does the health meter work? The health meter decreases over time if you do not interact with the ad bar and navigation system. As the health meter reaches the bottom, a warning will appear on your screen. As long as you interact with the advertising and navigation bar, you can continue to surf the web. However, if you leave your computer or fail to interact with the system, you will be disconnected from the Internet.
