Teflon, Exactly! They want to get the legal problems out of the way. I don't think they want the launch of Windows2k clouded by the DOJ. Once that product is out, lookout!!
Right now they appear to be cautious. It is not due to the evidence stage being over but more of an image issue. They want to show that the competitors are aggressive in their business plans and are not impeded by MSFT in any way.
It could all be a tactic to bring about a settlement. It just may change the tough stance taken by some of the States Attorney Generals.
Maybe it is a good long term strategy----once these guys are softened up with news of competitors' activities along with intense lobbying at state and federal levels------we could be setting up for a reasonable settlement.
