Why do Telcos keep buying substandard switches Don't take this the wrong way but do you really understand the technology involved? The difference between service offerings, network buildouts, differentiation between hardware features and software features... In this case as well as the T case operations screwed up showing weaknesses in the respective systems. Recovery would be simple if they chose to restart the network but as long as some traffic flows they will always attempt to repair it on the fly which exacerbates the problem. If you think switches from NN cannot be made to fail or falter you are seriously/easily decieved. Its extremely complicated technology, I think its a wonder that it works at all.
