JAG.com (the pay for rumor site) states ERCY to buyout COMS at 38. That is the latest and greatest I have heard about COMS in a long time. Hell offer me 35...

Gary,

We are in fact reading the same article.

It appears each of us chooses to focus on different paragraphs of the news report. What I elicited from the report was that the cable industry has a long way to go before they can standardize the equipment. Most of the problems are not company specific. Even companies like LU are having problems with their equipment. Again, any technology in its nascent stages is bound to go through a gauntlet of bugs and glitches before it is adequately accepted.

With regard to Cisco, I have to be impressed with the way they have performed in the past, but I do not delude myself by deifying the company. My bet is on LU in the up coming battle between these two Titans. Fundamentally LU is more on solid ground than Cisco and it has far more weapons than Cisco. All LU has to do is acquire a few companies like ASND to give Cisco a run for their money, but Cisco has a greater precipice to climb if it is ever to have a chance of prevailing over LU. LU's salvo and blitzkrieg on Cisco's domain will definitely expose Cisco's ramparts and I just wonder how long they will be able to hold out. This could in turn slow growth and expose their stratospheric multiples, such as PE, Book, P/S etc.
