I understand Mexico was the same way, but with the privatization of Telmex the owners are finally spending the money to upgrade the system.

There certainly has not been a rush to wireless broadband in this country, at least for homes. The equipment and monthly charges for Teligent are too expensive. I got sick of my dial up service and switched to ADSL. I read that only 1% of the capacity of a copper wire is used for regular telephone service. I would imagine India would be even more price sensitive.

The stock's movement today is amusing. What in the world changed from two days ago? The chip stocks have been hot while the internets have faded. But the internet is the main reason for increased chip demand now. Go figure!
