Dr. Batra is a charlatan? and is "batty"?

Na! You've got to be kidding!

He was rated as one of the top-notch professors of economics by his peers. In the 1990's he was tenured as Professor of Economics at SMU (Southern Methodist University?)

To be sure, he is not liked for his negative views about the US economy and particularly disliked for his views on "Capital Cronyism".

This is not surprising at all as people tend to shoot the messenger of unwelcome news!

So you're predicting there Won't be an earthquake in L.A.? The market likewise will inevitably 'crash' although demographics indicate it shouldn't occur until around 2008. See, the baby-boomers are moving into top management now and 1998 was the first year the boomers (of 1945) touched the median retirement age of 43. Around 2008 will be the peak of boomer retirement and a long bear market should ensue thereafter. At least if the market indicates American investment. Foreign investors could easily hasten a decline.
