It is exactly this bearishness that laid the groundwork for the spectacular rally off the recent lows imo. the VIX, put/call ratios, the Rydex ratio and sentiment polls all showed that people had become way too bearish...the complacency referred to in this article had disappeared. crash talk was alive and well. of course there is always the possibility that an advance will turn out to be the last, the final bull trap before the big downturn. but it's just as likely that this one is the one, or that it may not come for another 5 years. there's simply no way to determine for sure how long the mania will carry on. hb
