Oops! Wrong browser ...

I use IE 4.0, but I suppose 5.0 saves Favourites as files too.

An IE Favourite file only contains the URL in a text format. As such, you can edit them like any other text file. The problem is HOW to do it. I tried NOTEPAD, but although I can edit the first, when I try to open the next one, the first one gets replaced.

My temptation would be to open a DOS window, change directory to \WINDOWS\FAVOURITES and type COPY ONE.URL+TWO.URL+THREE.URL ... MANY.URL until all links are in one file, then edit the file using NOTEPAD. When your done, you can copy and paste your links as you please.

If your editor allows you to append a file, you could just add Favourites that way.

Hope this helps, PW.

mr mark, exporting favorites from IE5 to a file:

In IE5 FILE|IMPORT and EXPORT brings up a wizard.
Select to export favorites to a file. It names the
file bookmarks.html by default.

Open bookmarks.html and right click on the bookmark
you want to copy, then select COPY SHORTCUT and PASTE.

It struck me that the IE5 exported favorite file looks
exactly like a Netscape bookmark file. I just did all this
and keep the bookmark file on my desktop.

PS: I may have repeated what was already said by others,
but posts have me confused.
