Yes, I believe you are 100% correct about that. Despite what children are brainwashed into believing in the schools, slavery was NOT the primary issue, it was an excuse.

Agreed. I do find it curious that it was not acknowledged that states should have had the right to secede in a country that itself seceded from England....

It was always primarily about slavery. The only thing that touched off the Civil War was the election of a man known to favor eventual abolition. He had not even decided on a definite program for the elimination of slavery, and envisioned its end about thirty years in the future, and the South still seceded.....
