I wonder if A.Greenspan would still look very foolish if he did not raise interest rates? Intl. markets are still uneasy about what US will do with interest rates.

Sonny, I don't think AG cares how he looks. However, as you have cited, considering the global picture, if the C.P.I. on Tuesday doesn't reflect inf. at the comsumer level I think he will accept that and say, Not now, however we remain vigilant."
Market rates have cut the legs out of the re-fi biz. A slight increase in interest rates can put the brakes on shaky projects from business and consumers.
