Funny, Joan, I was thinking something similar. The two great presidents of this century, in my humble opinion (Newt Gingrich's too, by the way), are FDR and RWR......I firmly believe that FDR saved us from something worse, whether the Popular Front, Huey Long, or the Coughlinites and other crypto- fascists, and that he and Churchill saved civilization. I am only sorry that he was so much more naive than Churchill about Stalin, but it probably wouldn't have mattered much, given the facts on the ground.....
