This is indeed a high volume board. Amazing how in two days we get 300+ posts.

The fanaticism here reminds me of AAPL. I just hope we don't have the same fate.

I think that one major issue that is clouded over in this debate is the behind the scenes maneuvering of AOL. They are trying to control the Net using all their resources to block T's incentive in rolling out BB claiming closed access and monopoly. In their logic, all of T's clients should be open to AOL regardless of T's investment in the infrastructure.

Yet, when MSFT reverse engineers AOL's instant messaging so that MSN members can use it AOL crys foul and goes to the government for protection. WTF is that all about? How would AOL defend these two diametrically opposed stances in a court of law?

AOL is scum IMHO. They'd rather drag down everyone's Net experience in the hopes of furthering their own profits. Capitalism gone awry.

I find it amazing how all these articles focus on ATHM's miscues and completely ignore the full picture of AOL and it's implications on the future of the Net.

I have seen two of my long positions reduced to shreds by similar bonehead manuevers. CMGI gets smoked for screwing up LCOS only to roll over and get into Alta Vista. ATHM goes to the buffet table and orders up XCIT at a time where they are still fighting for BB acceptance.

Greed has gotten to Inet Management. Nets as a whole are paying for these poor decisions.

Why am I still long? One, I can afford to be as this is play money for me. Two, no matter what hits the press I think Armstrong has yet to play his cards. He is not going to give up ATHM. It ain't happening, AOL can pay the Journal whatever they want to run their articles but T is going to stick with ATHM and make it their baby in the future.

Oh, and I think TJ should start putting out his resume. His days are numbered.

In the meantime, let's see some fair treatment from the press in exposing AOL's manipulations as well as even handed reporting of ATHM's progress towards a BB world and how it is important to the future growth of the economy and the development of a "mature" Internet.

Regards,
Stuart
