Re: Sound's like somebody has shorted Intel

Paul,

I think that you may have failed to pick up on this issue. It is an indicator of tremendous strength for Intel. You shouldn't be responding defensively to the information.

Intel has about 1.3 quarters of earnings saved up for a rainy day. Earnings available to it whenever they are needed. This is a war chest - it's a very good thing for intel, and something that AMD wishes it had. But the fact that they were willing to miss last quarters earnings target in order to fill up that war chest could be a sign of concern. Perhaps the concern is misplaced, perhaps not.

I would never short anything, I'm much too conservative an investor - but a few Intel puts at its present price...

Intel isn't going to collapse, but it may well be overvalued at present. Hey, if we didn't have different opinions and expectations, we wouldn't have a market, right?
