Benefit them how?

Prostituting his network to other portals causes his company to lose control of content, or ties it up in legal wrangling to insure that T has a presence in the decision making. T is far better off with the devil it knows and controls, than the one that it doesn't.

I'm sorry but I don't understand this. Do you mean ATHM's network or the last mile? Why would Armstrong want control over content?

3) Net stocks are down... ATHM follows.

Actually ATHM held up very well while the nets were dropping. It was only after the internal T/AOL talks and T/ATHM strife reports came out the ATHM began making a new bottom. Now the nets are recovering and ATHM is not.

For ATHM to recover open access is a must. Surely ATHM will tank but then they can begin to build a business in a competitive marketplace.
