August 18, 1999 Vancouver, B.C. "(VSE: NVE)" NovaWest Resources Inc. ( the "Company") is pleased to announce that the Company has been engaged by Cunico Exploration Ltd. (Cunico), a private Canadian exploration company, to provide technical and logistical support for Cunico's summer 1999 Raglan exploration project. Novawest will share certain confidential geological/geochemical expertise and data with Cunico in order to further the success of their 1999 field program. The two companies have established a mutual understanding with respect to exploration and development within the Raglan camp.

Cunico's summer 1999 field program will be carried out under the consultation of Novawest's Mr. Frank Puskas and consulting geologist Dr. Peter Fischer. Novawest's own successful Raglan programs have also been carried out and managed by Mr. Frank Puskas and Dr. Peter Fischer. To date, Novawest has identified 57 Ni-PGE sourced, bedrock geochemical anomalies, some with considerable dimension, on its own 10 permit, 550 sq. km. Raglan assemblage. Novawest and Cunico will confidentially exchange field data, thus enabling Novawest to further enhance its modeling and screening techniques applicable to the Raglan and similar Ni-PGE-Cu-Co settings worldwide and Cunico to upgrade its data base.

Cunico's Raglan permits encompass approximately 268 square kilometers within the main Raglan Camp. The Cunico exploration permits are contiguous with Novawest's Delta, Eastbridge, Lac Nuvilik, Maverick and Scoop properties. They are also contiguous to Falconbridge's property containing the Katinniq and Cross Lake deposits. The Katinniq deposit is host to Falconbridge's new $486 million Raglan (Ni-PGE-Cu-Co) Mine.

The Company?s management invites the public to visit the Company?s home page on the internet (www.novawest.com) for the most current information about the Company and its mineral properties. Patrick O?Brien, the President of the Company, can be contacted at 1-800-663-8990 or by e-mail at novawest@novawest.com to discuss any questions you may have.
