Marc, Here's Celestica patents. None looks particularly strong... patents.ibm.com patents.ibm.com patents.ibm.com They are manufacturing patents. Not product patents, hence harder to obtain royalties on. I haven't given up on ATY. After taking that commanding lead in desktop graphics, there are still other areas of expansion. Their mobile chip presence is growing astronomically, and margins there tend to be much better. Also, the settop box and system on a chip strategies are longer term, but with potentially huge playoffs. The nextQ should be incredible just looking at their recent NEW added design wins in notebook graphics alone. The thing that got me hooked on SNDK was their patents on the CF and CF-like flashram/eeprom devices. Plus many CF cards nikon/casio/canon/panasonic actually are made by SNDK. Even the Kodak ones says patents copyright by SNDK. The icing on the cake? I saw those rio's and clones with 64MB flash and other expensive h/w selling for about the same as a 64MB CF flash in retail! Someone is raking in money like there's no tomorrow.
