mile,
i cannot debate earnings with you. you are too opinionated. <gg>

why do you suppose rmbs ceo goes on cnbc now? surely he was invited before. some ideas...

cnbc has botched the rmbs story so many times, they are afraid to tell it again themselves.

the final rmbs ramp problems are resolved, and geoff is comfortable saying that to the national media.

we have some surprises coming from the hotchips conference next week.

imo, there is no way mr conservative, geoff tate, gets in front of the man-eating, national press media if there are any problems with rambus or the ramp.

i hope he memorizes 3 or 4 great, clarifying, electrifying statements and recites them in response to questions. no matter what the questions are.

mark will open with, "rambus is 32 points off its recent high of 117. the company has been plagued by intel delays, amd has just announced they will not support rmbs until next year, here to explain these problems is rambus ceo...good morning mr tate, welcome to squawk box."

a good response to that might be.
"mark, i killed pc 133 last night."
mark says..what!
geoff says..."yup! strangled that sucker!"

seriously the press is duty bound to create controversy. rehearsing well thought out brief responses that get out your message, regardless of the questions, is the way to go.

So you really think RMBS will go from between $0.77-$1.00 EPS in '00 to $12.00 in '01? I don't.

mile,
due to the quirk in rmbs earnings reporting, 01 sales for rmbs effectively begin july 1, 2000.

with that in mind consider the adders for rambus earnings year 2001, again that begins next july 1.

timna scheduled for release mid 2000. this is intel's rambus enabled chipset for low-end pc's.

servers...first rambus server samples due end of this year. that should set up volume shipments for 2h 2000.

sony pII..north america release scheduled for 2 or 3q 2000.

set top boxes. sales of set top boxes projected to grow from 1 million this year to 7 million in 2001. 2000 is in between there someplace.

hdtv. projections call for hdtv sales to begin the big sales boom in 2000 as programming will become widespread by the end of this year.

hd dvd. same as hdtv.

and of course a few more rambus pc's may be sold beginning next july vs this year (we are in rmbs earnings year 2000 now). what might rambus pc sales increase be for
jul00-jun01 vs. jul99-jun00?

finally surprises. like pixelfusion's graphics chip, and toshiba's switch announced just this week. we have many many more product announcements coming imo.

notice how almost all of the adders kick in about the time that rambus earnings year 2001 begins.
how much do you think all of that might add to rmbs earnings?
