MOT [Motorola] closed up 5-1/4 points today. Same day Iridium declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy, after defaulting on $1.5 billion. MOT owns 18 percent of Iridium, and guaranteed $800 million note. Iridium, provides phone service through a network of 66 satellites. Is supposed to be one of government's Y2K back-up communication systems.

They're running up these stocks before the next big decline. Institutional investors will exit and leave "Joe six-pack" holding the bag. [J6P is the term Wall Street uses for the little guys.]

PC,

I'm curious... is it your goal to a) enlighten, or b) merely taunt
those with a bearish view of the stock market?

If a), then I must point out that your style is not very persuasive.
One does not persuade many people by saying "You are full of sh*t,
here's what I think..." One must first establish rapport with the
listener. Through your approach, you have done the opposite: you
have polarized against you those who might otherwise be inclined to
listen.

This might, of course, be your true goal, b). An occasional taunt
of the bears' comical performance in the late 90's is warranted.
But you have made this a bit of a crusade. Have you read any other
books besides "Out of the Box for Life"? I myself tend not to
believe in simplistic concepts such as "ego." In many cases, what
we call "insanity" or "neurosis" is just a poorly tuned awareness
of the needs, desires, and thoughts of other people. A person who
is depressed, for example, might belabor everyone around him/her
with sordid, hopeless tales of misery. The problem in many cases
is not that these thoughts occur in the depressed (they occur in
everyone) but rather that they are not filtered out internally as
being untrue - further, they are shared with others, thus further
validating them. There may in fact be biological/chemical reasons
for why this filtering does not occur. A person who must taunt
and bully others is often one who is chronically, painfully aware
of his/her status. So, PaperChase, what are you trying to validate with your persistent taunting? Do you want our respect?

AA

Do you ever use economics in your analyses of the market, or is it primarily this amateur psychologizing?

Since you seem to like psychobabble, here's something for you to ponder:
Don't confuse a bull market with genius.
