Dirk:Here's yet another neophyte and lurker writing! Welcome to the thread. We're glad to have you join us.Over the last several dozen posts, there's been talk about software for daytrading but no names were mentioned. I suppose I could go back through the posts to find the names but maybe you could supply me with the names of the better products... is there software with an educational bent to it also? Most daytrading brokers provide their customers with trading software that provides Level II data, charting, and order entry capabilities to the trader. The most commonly used product is called "Real Tick III", which is made by Townsend Analytics and is used by many, many firms including MB Trading, JPR Capital, Polar Trading, AllTech, etc. TradeCast is another software product used by multiple firms and provides a much more powerful order entry capability, but inferior charting. TradeCast software is used by NetTrade and others. CyberTrader and Castle Securites both have developed their own trading software for customer use. CyberTrader's product is also called "CyberTrader" and the Castle product is called "JavaTrader". As with the other software programs, each product has their own loyal following of traders who wouldn't think of using anything else. In addition to the actual trading/order execution software, many trader supplement this with other software packages, including Qcharts, etc. Unfortunately, this is not one of my areas of expertise, so someone else will have to review some of the other valuable supplemental packages. I can't immediately think of any software with "an education bent to it", but maybe others will have an idea on this as well.
