More problems for 3COM...They lose some AT&T business..

Bloomberg News August 12, 1999, 7:47 a.m. PT

Redwood City, California, Aug. 12 (Bloomberg) -- AT&T Corp.,
the largest shareholder in high-speed Internet-access provider Excite At Home Corp., plans to replace some 3Com Corp. network equipment with that of rival Cisco Systems Inc. because of recent outages and other problems related to the equipment, Cnet News.com reported, citing unidentified sources. The 3Com equipment, which AT&T began installing in the San Francisco Bay Area late last year, may be incompatible with other parts of AT&T's cable system. An agreement to replace the equipment may be disclosed within a few weeks, and No. 1 Internet-equipment maker Cisco could become Excite At Home's chief cable-equipment provider, Cnet said.

AT&T, Excite At Home, 3Com and Cisco weren't immediately
available to comment.
