I go to these type of shows all the time, as both exibitor and attendee.

Yes, somebody looking for investment ideas could benefit, but you probably won't get much more out of it then you would by reading the trade rags, unless you are a touchy-feely kinda person that can't understand a product unless you hold it in your hand.

Most exhibitors worth their salt would sniff out somebody not in the industry, or more correctly, not in a position to buy their products. Be prepared to be politely blown off if you start to appear like you are just a tire kicker.

Bottom line, if the show is in your city, go, but be prepared to shell out some bucks for the entry fee, unless you can sweet-talk a known exhibitor for a free pass.
