Politics by definition, or at least by the definition that has been created by politicians, does not attract the best and the brightest. They know that any attempt at actually representing the people's will and the people's best interests will be met with a stone wall and the instant enmity of their supposed peers. Instead, politics draw the greediest, and most self serving amongst us, looking for a way to take care of themselves at our expense, supporting agendas that promote themselves, while making sure the rest of us can't threaten their status quo. We have reached a level of corruption and abuse of power in our government, where they conduct their piracy in the open, calling it "the will of the people", while daring "the people" to do anything about it.
