The last time FDR ran he was barely functioning - though you'd never know it since the media was virtually controlled then (WWII & media access). During his entire presidency I believe there was only one picture ever published of FDR in a wheelchair and the paper that did it was the subject of near universal obloquy by the rest. Churchill could do little but watch as an enfeebled FDR sowed the seeds of the Cold War with his Yalta giveaway.
