Christine -- I don't care to defend or attack the CATO -- their arguments and positions should be judged strictly on merit.

I gotta tell you -- living in a world under the sway of a "lofty group of intellectuals seeking the absolute truth," is a pretty scary idea for me.

Kind of like an elitist religion thing.

Regardless of its funding, it has produced many thoughtful pieces that challenge the very hands that feed it. I certainly do not agree with every piece that it publishes. No more than I agree with everything coming out of The Concord Coalition (http://www.concordcoalition.com) or what I read at turnleft.com or from Greenpeace or in the New York Times editorials or in Salon--all of which I check regularly.

My comment had nothing to do with my own personal politics. Unlike some people on this thread, I do have an open mind and am willing to explore and consider many points of view.

I still think that the swipe at the Cato Institute was no more necessary to the point of the posting than would be a swipe at Greenpeace, even in light of some of the more bizarre antics we have seen.

I meant no insult; I meant the comment constructively. However, the latter part of your posting is quite insulting toward me.

Isn't Cato the sidekick of the Green Hornet?

(Long live Bruce Lee!)

Want a true libertarian? Go back to the Revolutionary days. Anyone who had a sympathy for King George's point of view was tarred, feathered and run out of town on a very thin, painful rail. Libertarians do not necessarily accept ALL viewpoints. Your perception of a true libertarian is greatly skewed.

And why are you insulting Edwarda? She deserves your respect!
