I think you would be expending a lot more energy than "sitting around waiting for the lites to come back on"- you would be waiting so long for that that you will get muscle atrophy!

If you follow Ron's advice of going to lakes and reservoirs to obtain your water supply, you will use and need a lot of muscles for the lifting and carrying almost daily. In that case, you outta start getting them built up way in advance!

suggest you get a nordic track and universal gym for your home- that will relive weeks/months of boredom and reverse the muscle degeneration.
