It has always struck me sharply that the problem with cryogenics--even if the science can be perfected--is not simply that there is a presumptiousness in wanting a sort of quasi-immortality; it is that one rejoins (as it were) a world that is so radically different that it might prove not merely aweful but possibly awful.

Setting aside for a moment the considerations of global warming and the like on the overall environment, suppose you find yourself in an extremely collectivist society that strongly resists any reminders of individual rights and personhood? (Think, to take it to the limit case, of a society resembling the Borg. Shudder!!)

Think of it: Poor Terry, to be revived only to commit suicide in a world too frightful for him to endure!
