Riding on the beach was not listed as an option. We were in a remote location. Six guests in all! Lots of rain! We were in rainforest for a week. It was the rainy season but it rained more than normal. Diving available if the ocean is not rough. Waves were huge. I managed to get in one day of diving. Visibility was terrible and the currents can be treacherous, especially if you look for better viz. Conditions were so bad that housemate wouldn't even go diving with me!!!

Just to get to the rain forest was a hassle. We had to fly for an hour or so in small plane. Then ride in a van through banana plantations for 1 1/2 hours, then we had to board small boat for another a ride that took another couple of hours. Tide was out so we saw many crocks sunning on the banks. Place we stayed at was classy and service was outstanding. The best we've ever seen. Service was so good that it was transparent.

Housemate is a birder so that is why we went to Costa Rica. We had to use or lose the miles. And it's pretty hard to turn down first-class tickets.

I would not have gone to Costa Rica if I had not had the frequent flyer tickets. I do not want to suggest that Costa Rica is uninteresting. I saw many beautiful birds!

If you go there, you need to define exactly what you want to do and you need to find out about the rainfall. It not only varies from season to season but it varies across the country. And it rains often there. They also have many earthquakes.

Here's a thought:

If You Love Something

If you love something, set it free.
If it comes back, It will always be yours.
If it doesn't come back, it was never yours to
begin with.

But, if it just sits in your living room,
messes up your stuff, eats your food, uses
your telephone, takes your money, and doesn't appear to realize that you had set it free.....

You either married it or gave birth to it.
