Frank,
Thank you for your response. As you can sense from my questioning I do not have much of a technology background therefore your patience is much appreciated. It took me a while to digest your response including your posts over in the ATHM thread. My line of reasoning came to the same conclusion as you did ie T will eventually opt for being a common carrier. This may not happen now but it will in the future therefore I was exploring what the potential of ATHm will be without Excite (with the blessing of its sponsors the MSOs). I realize that ATHM is a tenant on the last mile but from your postings and those of others (ATHM thread # 10469 and those of ahhaha) my impression is that cable internet will require a more sophistiacted infrastructure that dial ISPs cannot duplicate easily-regional data centers, cacheing etc. What the basic question for me is "What potential does ATHM have for being a sophisticated pipe for ISPs"? Since they started without Excite I would assume that there must be one.
