Dan Re<<I expect Intel to be shipping 733 and 800 coppermines for the christmas season>>

Intel shipping 800Mhz coppermines by early November?!?! I highly doubt that. I think it is unlikely that they will ship them in 1999, let alone in time "for the Chirstmas season".

Dan 100-97 - Re: "or if coppermine really does top out at 667MHZ, intel will be shut out of the high end. "

You are really out in LEFT FIELD !

AMD just "announced" a fast chip - but that fast chip is NO WHERE - you can't even buy them - and it is most certainly NOT IN THE HIGH END.

Even AMD admitted that they could make no more than a CUMULATIVE MILLION AthLATEs this year.

You are making the juvenile assumption that a "HIGH END" PC/Server manufacturer will refuse to use a 667 MHz Coppermine that is (i.e., will be) available just because an UNAVAILABLE 650/700 MHz AthLATE has been ANNOUNCED ?

Face reality.

Business is business - and the HIGH END is not WON just by ANNOUNCING a fast chip.
