I had a pet raccoon when I was a teenager. Fun, if destructive (not that I cared), when small. Got nasty when it got big. Eventually returned to the wild, meaning that it slept in the woods and dumped the garbage cans instead of sleeping on the porch and dumping the garbage cans.

Those cute little guys? They lit outta here shortly after trashing our kitchen trying to get more cat kibble. Guess they musta heard about the incipient blackhole and are trying to make good their escape.

Before they left for good, we sure had a blast. Every night they'd come out and look for food and the pool. Late at night we'd hear them in the trees or barrel rolling across our back deck. Mother nature culled the baby count down to three early on but we made sure they got a decent start on life. I'm sure we were the talk of the neighborhood, but really what harm was that ? No cottage-cheese-for-a-brain lawsuits yet, so I guess things worked out pretty well all the way around. Sure do miss those little critters though. Cute little bandits.
