Re Whisper.
There are some interesting posts on the site you provided:
Here is one..
whisperearnings.com
If I remember correctly, Dell has been right on or one cent above
First Call for nearly 18 quarters now, if you adjust for the price level. So 18 whisper seems reasonable.
IMO Dell executives are the only ones who know the facts for
the next two quarters. They would know the rate at which orders flow in, plans that companies have to buy new or replace within the next few months. Who else would know the production rates at the plants
in 5 ( soon to become 6) world locations.?
With back to school sales( lots of notebooks!), Christmas sales,
Y2K sales ( note the article that said only 3 States are ready and
the rest will be aiming to get ready by October) it appears Dell growth is still limited only by production capabilities which called for a rapid start-up of the Tennessee facility.
So I am very optimistic that there will be no further decay in
Dells growth rate for the next 2 quarters.
However, a 50% growth rate would require $11 bil/year in additional sales and should be considered a miracle. Its been a routine miracle at Dell for years now.
Npw we may have to settle for a Semione, a token, a portent
Good luck
