Dotty,

I use candles exclusively. Hammer reversals are candle patterns that have associated names on bars (finger reversals, one bar reversals).

The core of my trading is the visual process. I strongly believe that Fibonacci mathematics represents proportion in nature and that the eyes and mind can intuitively see and interpret proportion (retracement in time and dimension) on stock charts. However, math tools need to be used to filter and verify what the mind thinks it sees. A 5 bar stochastic under my candles has kept me out of a lot of trouble.

Alan

candles, switching to longer term gives a very good trend perspective
look at daily, but don't forget weekly monthly, especially for a position trade with mental stops
good luck
ynot ;)
