Exactly. GEICO was running huge underwriting losses, but the business was fundamentally sound. SanDisk had a somewhat parallel situation in that the technology was improving so rapidly that SNDK had to write off unsold inventory, creating losses on the earnings sheet. But not so well publicized was the fact that when the shares were around 5 and 6, the company was still showing close to $5 in cash or accounts receivable. That meant the company could be purchased for virtually nothing!
