I think it's ironic that GIC "gave" them the MPEG code considering they were suppose to be doing their own version via a purchase they had done not too long ago...nothing new though, it is GIC's box. I'm wondering how BRCM will do in the Open Cable arena in contrast with closed end deals like this one??? The key for BRCM now, IMO, is if they can continue to expand their product offerings fast enough to keep pace with their use of BRCM dollars for purchases of new tech/chip pieces. I would think there would be a lull in the action at some point.....so far BRCM has been masterful in execution of their plans.
