couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of self-serving suits, rarebird. do you suppose this distraction might make them finally cover their gold carry short trade? :)

p.s. stay tuned for a 'lob' from ron reece in response now, since he couldn't resist his feigned surprise at MS/DW's audacity when c.k.houston originally posted that tidbit.

m&a must have been an litigious area his staff overlooked when advising congressional representatives on recent legislation limiting y2k lawsuit attorney's fees to only $1,000 per hour. :) oh, and be careful for his wife's m-16 prowess he threatened me with on that 'other' thread. :)

re microsoft and thus the market
with office 2000 coming out shortly..sounds as if high tech(not necessarily internet mania though) is consolidating for another rebound..the world is getting hooked on the internet..all those Us corporations that provide the infrastructure surely will keep on doing well..there revenues will have to increase..don't you think
Again..if Goldman Sachs gave the battle charge for gold.. gold will
move regardless now of what governments says..
maybe the US government now wants gold to move since it might want the dollar to cool down a bit..the strong dollar has helped much and helped create wealth effect to help the economy and now if gold starts moving..that might draw away some strength from dollar
Armstrong doesn't seem off the wall.. everything I have read suggests that only US is more prepared than any other country in dealing with year 2000 problem

<<Morgan Stanley Dean Witter is being sued over the Y2K readiness of a company it helped sell ... Charged with fraud.

Though the number of Y2K suits is still minuscule, the dark clouds of litigation are billowing on the horizon. In fact, they've already closed in on Morgan Stanley Dean Witter & Co., which in a suit before a Pittsburgh federal court is being accused of misrepresenting the Y2K-readiness of a company that then-independent Dean Witter Reynolds Inc. helped sell in 1996 ...>>

I guess one must bring suit prior to 1-1-2000 of not at all.
