>- Which is more efficient (a) having multiple instances of QCharts running - for example, 3 - each with approximately 1/3rd of the objects one wishes to have open or (b) running one instance of QCharts with all the objects in it? Curious about efficiency both in terms of bandwidth usage as well as CPU resource usage. - Mark

Don't know if it helps, but put the system res. up on Win98 and you can track the amount of resources usage the additional "copies" of Qcharts uses. One single copy seems to use less but Qcharts appears to be a very tight program and uses much less that other programs I have used.

Their ability to "float" windows - take a qchart window and move it outside the main qchart window to anywhere one wants on the desktop or to other monitors - is something they need. Qcharts is not "multi-monitor friendly" unless those monitors are all the same size.

- The export feature of the BAR object does not work for the Daily time frame in any of the version 2.4 builds. It works for smaller time frames and it works in version 2.3. Ray in your support area can confirm this. It would be nice if you could restore this feature in one of the 2.5 builds or, if Quote.com no longer wants to support exporting data as some of your msgs imply, then remove the menu prompts altogether so as to properly represent the software's capabilities.

This bug has already been discovered and corrected. re-run getQchartsBeta.exe to get the latest and greatest (2.5 b2) and daily export will work. At least it works here and for others....

Dunno if we discussed it here but there was a long discussion on the mailing list on this subject...

If you are limited on space, try creating multiple workspaces. They load very quickly (through CNTL-1, -2, etc.). You can still have alerts across all workspaces regardless of whether the workspace is loaded at the moment.

"Backup Alerts" is sort of mis-named. It means "save the alerts to disk now." This saves any alerts you may have added to the file "Alerts.dat" in your QCharts/User directory.

In my opinion, having one instance of QCharts open is more efficient, but it would depend on what you are doing.

Exporting data should work better in 2.5 build 2, which is available on the beta site. Give it a try and let us know if this works better.
