Sun has been indicating that they will just be happy that more people will be learning the Unix platform... I believe they think this will be a benefit for Solaris, in that Linux will not have the gusto that Solaris does, but more people will have the Unix knowledge from Linux and the transition to Solaris will be easier than if they had no Unix knowledge...

Linux will rock the low end ...

the average computer is around $800 and dropping. Linux is free and rock solid. Perfect for "appliances" and "free" computers.

Networking them together will be a flavor of UNIX.

Linux and Solaris are a perfect combination for corporate use from top to bottom.
