Would you agree that the app's in place will stay in place for many years as companies have too much invested getting them up and running. I take the "ERP is dead" to mean we won't see the growth in new licenses that we have ween in the past (decisions forced by Y2K roll over), but rather a reliance upon upgrades.
If one accepts this premise. And if one accepts the premise that organizations are by design self propagitating (in this case corporate IT), it beggs the question of where IT dollars will be spent in the future. Big bucks have gone into software conversions (including ERP) in the past 3-5 years (SAP, PS and BAAN leading the pack). I doubt CIO's or those whose lifes depend on IT spending will be willing to trim those budgets and would expect $$$$ to go over to EAI of the SAP, BAAN and PS systems that are in place. I see a percived desire on the part of managment to avoid creating tommrows legacy systems through the employment of custome code to serve the needs of the organization. Rather a desire exists to rely on updated versions of standardized software and thus a need to intergrate these versions rapidly with other applications used by the IT organization.
Where do you see the future and specifically NEON?
