The rest of the story . Researchers and developers for VISX break through with winning procedure and sales , stock and all breakout for the LASIC procedure . The very same research and development team moved on and continued improving on their Laser work for a company called Autonomous . They have some little gizmos( scanning technology) a way of performing the LASIC procedure that makes LASIC a lot safer and more accurate . Pure progress . Summit Technologies buys Autonomous-seems like a couple of months ago . The FDA panel then recommends BEAM/Summit for the widest range of usage for LASIC . When word and education about the realities gets out, the Docs performing this Laser procedure will opt for the most up to date methods . They know it's out there . When will they feel the pressure to improve their craft . Let's see . respectfully , bernard ...If I were VISX I would think it a good idea to buy BEAM too . IMHO
