Cablevision Nixes @Home In L.I. Market
By Karen J. Bannan, Inter@ctive Week
August 16, 1999 9:04 AM ET

Cablevision Systems' Long Island, N.Y., customers won't be going @Home anytime soon.

According to sources familiar with the company's cable modem rollout, Cablevision has no plans to migrate its Optimum Online customers to the Excite@Home high-speed cable modem service. The sources cited Cablevision's continuing problems with deploying and managing the @Home service in Connecticut, where, according to company insiders, the modems either don't perform or respond sluggishly.

"It just doesn't work," said one senior-level source familiar with the @Home installation.
