Here's the ticket, OH! Get Ron to move to a cabin at Grand Lake!
Advantages:

1. After his 60 days of food runs out, he and family can survive on fish! (You or someone else can teach him about cooking fish in nature, rather than on the oven).

2. He will live NEXT to water, so he won't have to make daily trips to a reservior miles away from his apartment in Washington, to lug barrels of water home and up stairs! He's outta shape now, so he won't have to worry about muscle strain as much!

3. He will be able to get his money's worth from his water filter!

4. He will be in a sparsely populated area, rather than worrying about the Washington mass civil unrest and looting, and multiple spreading fires!

5. He will be able to more easily hide from FEMA when they start rounding up those with software knowledge to work in the utility mines doing emergency repairs to the grid!

6. It will be harder for his National Guard unit to find him and reactivate him to full-time duty under martial law! (I will promise to not inform them myself!)

7. He would be far enough away from the Washington, DC politics and politicans, that the rural environment alone may de-program him from the political spin indoctrinations he daily undergoes there now!

8. Very little snow!

9. He will have a LOT more time to spend 'debating' with me on his computer (at least, until the grid and/or net goes down), as he would not be involved in the Washington DC scene's daily struggle for survival!
