From what little I have read, it seems that most of the selling occurs between August and October of each year.

August is generally a quiet month when many traders are away on vacation. So I guess some interested parties would like to stimulate some action by posting scary news. Selling off generally tends to be most active in October, the traditional tax-loss selling month. So a downturn in the market is to be expected at this time of the year.

Some "experts" claim one always has to be careful a few days left and right of the Autumn Equinox (Sept 20-22nd). I don't have enough experience to say whether this is credible.

Thanks. I don't necessarily agree with his article. At least, Newman had the integrity to state that he had been bearish since Dow 4500. According to the various historical fundamental benchmarks (book value, dividends, earnings, cash flow, sales, etc), the highest fair value for the Dow would be just above 6000. But that has been true for a couple years now.
