I am only lurking these days but thought I would toss this chart in.

Since Barrick makes up a good portion of the index it could be indicative of where things are headed. You could chart 10 of the index cos. and get a pretty good reading. These charts work the best for me.
The MACD Histogram is breaking down which indicates we will try again another day.

as mentioned on several previous posting, still lookin for a friday close above the 89 ema (epotential moving average)..although the xau has poked it's head above this line on the xau weekly chart on several occasions...it still has not be able to get a CLOSE above the 89 ema since early 1996....to me, a friday close above the 89 ema (which i believe jim indicated last week was currently at about 72.88???) would be a nice indication that the bear market in gold had ended...tb
