India's Maars gets UK software intellectual rights

maars-soft.com

MADRAS, India, Aug 16 (Reuters) - Indian computer software firm Maars Software Ltd said on Monday it had acquired the intellectual property rights (IPR) to a range of software products from London-based Saphire Systematics.

``MAARS has obtained the complete IPR for the range of Systematics products along with customer base and brand name,' the firm said in a statement issued in the southern Indian city of Madras.

The firm said it would integrate Systematics' successful Accord software product, currently operational in over 1,000 installations in the U.K. and Kenya, into its proprietary Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) software, Maarsman.

ERP software helps firms track inventory, purchasing, finance, marketing, despatch and personnel data on an integrated system.

``The company is currently discussing with the dealers of Systematics products to introduce the new versions. It is expected that over 100 copies of the new product will be sold in the U.K. market during the current quarter.'

MAARS, which recently tied up with IBM Corp (NYSE:IBM - news) for marketing its ERP software, said the latest product acquisition would also help the firm introduce its products to the European market.

``MAARS is discussing with a company in Belgium, to introduce (a) Europe version of Maarsman during the second half of the year,' the firm added.
