Hi Gaugie, glad to be back. We all love popcorn here, even movie popcorn. I I I am the popcorn queen, I eat it several times a week, fresh mostly.

But I know what you mean about the smell of fake popcorn that's been sitting over a heat source for a long time, I think they use butyric acid as a flavoring, and I think that's one of the components of toe cheese and other rancid smells. Please forgive me for being disgusting.

Fresh butter smells sweet, but even that has a little butyric acid. Put it next to a heat lamp for hours, and yech.
