Well, Michelle lives there. She can tell us whether the illegal alien vote is swaying these elections.

Well, the state elections were awful for republicans mostly due to their own arrogance too. The gov candidate was openly anti-choice even though every poll said that was not going to win. Its hard to remember now but back then Newt was saying the republicans were going to pick up a lot of seats, and these guys thought they were immune to polls. Then the other candidates like Matt Fong who were pretty strong came out as pro-life and pro-gun, and that was it. Matt Fong really suffered from a bad party machinery out here... he lost to Barbara Boxer who is unpopular it was just unbelievable. The Dems thought they were going to lose big and people like Paneta (who is a good guy) was pounding the pavement.... the lesson is - don't be arrogant! We also have B2-Bob Dornan so this state is full of nuts on the republican side. The Dems used to be nutty but now they have all gone conservative... very strange.
