Bluemountain.com and VStream Partner to Add Free Voice Messages to Electronic Greeting Cards
BUSINESS WIRE - August 16, 1999 08:19
BOULDER, Colo., Aug 16, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE via COMTEX) --

Using VStream's Beep Technology, Bluemountain.com Introduces Singing, Talking, Chatting E-Cards

Bluemountain.com and VStream announced today a partnership that will add personalized voice messages to Bluemountain.com's free electronic greeting card service.

The new feature, powered by VStream's Beep technology, will be the first of its kind in the online greetings marketplace. With one click, Bluemountain.com visitors can add a song, narrative or simple "hello" in their own voice using only their computer and phone.

Visitors to www.bluemountain.com <www.bluemountainarts.com access the voice messaging service by clicking the Beep icon on selected e-cards. The user then calls the provided toll-free number to record an audio greeting up to a minute and a half in length. Once recorded, the message links to a Web page where the recipient can view his or her e-card and hear the personalized voice message directly through the computer's speakers. Listeners need a computer with a sound card and speakers, as well as RealNetworks RealPlayer available for free download.

"Blue Mountain Arts and VStream share a common goal," said Paul Berberian, co-founder and CEO of VStream. "Both companies want to provide people with better ways of communicating over the Web. Just imagine how much more meaningful receiving a written card will be when the reader hears the warmth of the sender's voice."

Jared Schutz, Executive Director of Bluemountain.com, says the personalized audio message will enhance the meaning of the e-card to its users. "Bluemountain.com is confident that once users record and deliver their own message, the added feature will become an invaluable part of sending an electronic card to family, friends, and loved ones," said Schutz. "Together Bluemountain and VStream are helping the world communicate."

VStream's Beep service, which will initially be offered on a limited selection of cards, will be fully integrated across all cards on the Bluemountain.com site shortly. With VStream's voice-to-email technology, Bluemountain.com will be among the first to offer this audio service for free to its users.
