NEWS RELEASE

Royce Group Diamond Project, NWT Update

GMD Resource Corp. (the "Company") has received an information update on the Royce Group Diamond Property situated 150 km north northwest of Yellowknife, NWT from Monopros Limited, the operator of the property, who may earn a 51% interest in the property by incurring not less than $16,000,000 in four sequential programs by April 30, 2004.

Monopros advises that a till sampling crew were mobilized into the Spirit Lake camp site situated in the center of the Royce Group on July 23, 1999 and the sampling program was completed on September 26, 1999. As part of the initial program, 1,148 till samples were collected during the period. Heavy mineral concentrates have been acquired from approximately half of the 853 samples undergoing dense media separation at Monopros' Toronto facilities. The remaining 295 samples are en route to Monopros' Val d' Or, Quebec screening facilities. Results are expected later this year and will be reported at that time.

A review of the previously defined anomalies picked by GMD from the geophysical survey conducted by Dighem for GMD in 1998 was also carried out. Anomalies were reviewed in conjunction with existing down-ice geochemical data as well as airphoto topography. A decision was made for each anomaly as to what sampling would be conducted for that anomaly during the initial program. Depending on the prospectivity for the anomaly either detailed sampling, wider spaced sampling by ground crews or a combination of both was done during the summer program. In addition to providing better sample coverage down-ice from the higher interest anomalies, areas of the property with sparse or no sample data were covered with ground traverses. Surficial mapping was also completed by a geologist using airphoto interpretation combined with site checks across the property. This mapping will aid with future sampling planning and with interpretation of sample results as they become available.

The next phase of the initial program will consist of a winter airborne geophysical survey on ground lacking existing coverage as well as a number of smaller areas of interest requiring more detail within the Royce Group. This program will be carried out once the 1999 sample results have been returned and reviewed. Based on the supporting geophysics and geochemical results a winter diamond drill program is expected. The initial program is scheduled to be completed by April 30, 2000 at an aggregate cost of approximately $1,500,000.
