<<<So it isn't really addressing the loss of soul, but the loss of safety and and the invasion of the "lower class". You can have soul, but without money, you need not apply. Or has it always been like this?>>>

No, it has not. Look at Europe, the less affluent historically, still had towns and townships. They are dis-allowed from having them today. We have zoning and setback and minimum and parking and transportation legislations and rules that LITERALLY PREVENT the creation of "towns" for ANY but the wealthy. And half-assed ones, at that.

America refuses to allow it's middle and lower classes. Period.

And we have a total (don't mess with me, it's proportionally total) LACK of investment and effort to do anything about it.

WE rob people of their life.

We're paying for it, too, and it will get worse.

Their IS no life for the poor and under-wealthy. You either COMPETE, as we do, with privilege, or you crawl through life without one, without a life, without dignity, without a neighborhood, without neighbors, without street music, without squares, without safety, without security, without a city, without a home.

And I don't want to hear any bullshit about "Life is what you make it."(I don't mean from you; I mean, you know, from, well, anyone.)

Smitty knows about cities and neighborhoods and towns; and knows this aint no Greek Isles. No Italian hilltown. No Europe; no Africa.

The problem with Southlake is that the median house cost is over 200K, the median income is around 90 or 100K, and there are no apartments allowed. It's a gated community in the sense that if you're not pretty well-off, forget living here.

Hahaha!! Today I picked up some real estate flyers on my route. These are 30 yr old homes, 2500 sq feet. 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath. One was $450,000, the other was "price reduced" to $375,000. And this isn't a "gated community". We have those a mile or two away, and the homes start at $800,000. Welcome to California....
